Kettering College Donor Spotlight: Trina Melzoni
Nursing was always a calling for Trina Melzoni. After becoming a registered nurse, she made history as the first Sinclair College nursing graduate hired by Kettering Health, where she discovered her passion for intensive care. Throughout her career, Trina valued dedication, faith, and continuous learning; values she saw at Kettering College where many colleagues advanced their education. She witnessed firsthand how education improved local healthcare, strengthening her belief in supporting future nurses.

Guided by their faith and desire to give back, Trina and her husband Tom created a nursing scholarship. Their commitment was personal; Tom, the first in his family to graduate college, had already established a scholarship honoring his father. Seeing the growing need for nurses, they viewed their scholarships as investments in both students and quality healthcare.

After 40 years in nursing, Trina retired to Florida in 2015 but remains committed to supporting new nurses. She finds joy knowing their support makes a difference. "Nursing is not just a career but a calling," she explains. "I hope that one day, those we help will be able to pay it forward."

Through their generosity, Trina and Tom have created a legacy that helps future nurses pursue their calling. Their scholarships empower students, strengthen healthcare, and continue a cycle of compassionate care that will benefit patients for generations.
Ukrainian Student Initiative Success Story: Natalia Alieksandrova
In December 2024, Natalia Alieksandrova became the first graduate of Kettering College's Ukrainian Student Initiative, earning her Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with high honors (magna cum laude).

Natalia arrived in the United States as part of the first group in the Ukrainian Student Initiative. From the beginning, she showed strong academic commitment and determination. Despite the challenging fast- paced nursing program, she excelled academically.

After graduating, Natalia began working in the Emergency Department at Kettering Health, where she now cares for patients.

This success was made possible by donors, partners, and the Kettering College community. Your support has directly changed lives and created opportunities for talented students like Natalia.

Natalia's achievement inspires other Ukrainian students in the program. Her story shows how education, persistence, and community support can transform lives and build promising careers. We look forward to seeing how Natalia and future graduates will contribute to healthcare and their communities.
