Kettering College Donor Spotlight: Trina Melzoni
Nursing was always a calling for Trina Melzoni. After becoming a registered nurse, she made history as
the first Sinclair College nursing graduate hired by Kettering Health, where she discovered her passion
for intensive care. Throughout her career, Trina valued dedication, faith, and continuous learning; values
she saw at Kettering College where many colleagues advanced their education. She witnessed firsthand
how education improved local healthcare, strengthening her belief in supporting future nurses.
Guided by their faith and desire to give back, Trina and her husband Tom created a nursing scholarship.
Their commitment was personal; Tom, the first in his family to graduate college, had already established
a scholarship honoring his father. Seeing the growing need for nurses, they viewed their scholarships as
investments in both students and quality healthcare.
After 40 years in nursing, Trina retired to Florida in 2015 but remains committed to supporting new
nurses. She finds joy knowing their support makes a difference. "Nursing is not just a career but a
calling," she explains. "I hope that one day, those we help will be able to pay it forward."
Through their generosity, Trina and Tom have created a legacy that helps future nurses pursue their
calling. Their scholarships empower students, strengthen healthcare, and continue a cycle of
compassionate care that will benefit patients for generations.
